cookie_monster Posted June 26, 2009 Posted June 26, 2009 (edited) I have a task coming up where I need to seperate all video files from our shared area. Basically we have an area with a folder for each department in the school that they keep resources in but it's getting out of control, I'd like to have this area just for important docs that I can backup easily and all the images and video on another server/area. I'd like some software that can mirror the folder structure of the source folder then move files with a certain extension, anyone know of some software that will do this? Cheers. EDIT: I wonder if robocopy might do this. Just come accross this util, i'll see if it's any use. http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/magazine/2009.04.utilityspotlight.aspx Edited June 26, 2009 by cookie_monster
cookie_monster Posted June 26, 2009 Author Posted June 26, 2009 I'll take a look, haven't used it for a while. Does it offer this function?
Michael Posted June 29, 2009 Posted June 29, 2009 Why not search for all files with this extension, then select all and copy to wherever it needs to go. Repeat the process for each different format/extension.
cookie_monster Posted June 29, 2009 Author Posted June 29, 2009 @ Michael - that could be what I end up doing it's just there are alot of files so it will take a while. Cheers.
mac_shinobi Posted June 29, 2009 Posted June 29, 2009 robocopy has a seperate user interface Utility Spotlight: Robocopy GUI
