Michael Posted July 27, 2009 Posted July 27, 2009 Microsoft are due to release a Security Update to Internet Explorer tomorrow (July 28th 2009). It would be useful if people could install and test this update with Policy Central!!!
Jons Posted November 29, 2009 Posted November 29, 2009 Hi, we have PCE installed and since then the network is really slow. Trying to shutdown takes several minutes before the shutdown dialogue box even appears. What is the best method to remove this across all the machines, without logging in as the user the council gave us? In fact, they lost this and the instructions. The IT coordinator just wants it gone at least to see performance difference before making a decision to keep or not.. I looked at the official PCE PDFs from the council but we don't have the folders they are describing, so we didn't have the removal utility..? The install must have been non-standard. I think there was something in Group Policy which we removed (some time back) and we tried stopping the pcclient.exe in HKLM\Run but it replaces itself. Then we tried a machine script which runs before everything else, to replace the HKLM\Run with a different target (Quicktime actually) but keeping the re key to fool PCE. It half worked. Am I making a mountain out of a molehill here and missing something obvious? Thx.
Michael Posted November 29, 2009 Posted November 29, 2009 What is the best method to remove this across all the machines Unfortunately the uninstall utility does not work, so you'll need to contact Link2ICT and log a call. They have another uninstall utility which does remove the product correctly, but unfortunately this is a manual process from what I understand.
Jons Posted November 29, 2009 Posted November 29, 2009 thx, and if anyone else has anything to add, go ahead. Also, what is the situation regarding pupil monitoring in Primary's? One party tells me it is obligatory, another tells me optional. It has little value in Primarys where pupils are almost always supervised, so any input anyone?
