Edu-IT Posted June 24, 2009 Posted June 24, 2009 A friend of mine cannot use any web browser to access the internet, page cannot be displayed, but is okay to use BitTorrent, MSN etc. Firewall is disabled, no proxy configuration. Can anyone suggest anything else to check? It's been a long week and I'm probably missing the obvious here so any help from you would be much appreciated.
Michael Posted June 24, 2009 Posted June 24, 2009 Well it does appear to be a port/firewall problem. Can your friend browse secure webpages, such as Paypal? Type: https://www.paypal.com/ Bittorrent and MSN will use different ports. If you're sure that all software firewalls are disabled, I would recommend taking a look at the router configuration.
imiddleton25 Posted June 24, 2009 Posted June 24, 2009 I have seen this once before took a while to sort and it was a corupt tcp stack and DNS was not working. try ip address in browser like google 209.85.227.99
