I have all the pink floyd albums and yep they are superb, I remember when I was 17 and started listening to them wow trippy start to my teen years lol:troll:

Where's my troll... ah there he is :troll:

Love the early Floyd up until 'The Final Cut'. After that, hmmm not so sure. Gilmour's solo stuff is a bit wishy washy. I've been playing guitar for years, so I really appreciate his guitar playing.

I can play guitar pretty well, but I'm absolutely fascinated by the art of songwriting. My favourite band is 'The Mountain Goats'. Their songs are intense. Sorry, but the later Floyd stuff got all generic and bland.

The only solo Gilmour album I like is 'About Face'. Roger Waters solo stuff is also lesser than the early Floyd. His high spots were 'Radio KAOS' and 'Amused to Death'.

That is all.

:peep:

Actually I agree with you. The solo works are very valid, but they're not Floyd and nor are they trying to be, and that's important.

I like the later soundscapes, but I'm not keen on Final Cut either. I think the established sound was too expansive to then try and produce and album with such a message; it needed a smaller band and sound really, something a bit simpler.

Something I haven't done is check out his solo stuff. There's only so much music I can get around to listening to...

I'm a guitarist too, so I guess I have a keen interest in the guitarist for any band I like the sound of. Gilmour's got to be one of the best; I love the expressive way he plays... it's awesome.

Floyds OK but the big news this week for all serious music lovers is the Nolan's are making a comeback:getmecoat:

Is a dude :) I'm listening to Pink Floyd...

Agreed! I was lucky enought to go to Earls Court in 1994 to watch the mighty Floyd. Words can't express how amazing a gig that was

I saw The Wall in 197? and the '94 gig. I went to '94 with a bunch of people including someone who had toured as soundcrew; when we left we all looked like this --> :jaw: It was STUNNING!

Saw Pink Floyd back in 1975 (I think, it is a long time ago, man :hippie:) They were amazing..must admit though, I do like their earlier stuff but I have got 'On an Island' and it is very good

'On an Island' is excellent, as is the 'Live in Gdansk' album, which was part of Gilmore's tour to promote 'On an Island'.

Been listening to quite of bit of their live 'PULSE' album the last few days. Wonder if they will release it on Blu Ray at all?

It's a gig I'll never forget! One part I remember was comfortably numb with one of those disco type balls opening up into what looked like a flower, simple, but with the awesome guitar solo going on, lighting effects and the atmosphere it was about as close to heaven as I'll ever get ;)

That mirror ball had a HUGE lantern built into it. From memory a 4kW HMI which is the same type physically as data projectors, just 30 time the power. The ball itself is still around, in some hire companies yard. It would look good in a school hall for a disco!

Ah, it was a lantern! I couldn't quite remember, the best I could come up with was flower like!
