firefox_2006 Posted June 5, 2009 Posted June 5, 2009 Hi all, I have been asked by the assistant head to setup the short throw projector in our school hall so that people can watch the England game next Wednesday. At the minute the projector can display from a laptop via VGA and a splitter (dual display), what I am having difficulty with is getting it to display the freeview channels as this is done via scart connection. There is a composite port beneath the VGA one on the wall and I have tried a compatible cable with no success. The only way I can see it being done is via an ariel out lead from the freeview box to one of those USB DVT dongle thingies to a laptop and dual displaying it. Anyone have any ideas? regards firefox_2006
K.C.Leblanc Posted June 5, 2009 Posted June 5, 2009 It should work with the composite, however scart carries inputs and outputs. It's possible that your scart cable is designed to have the signal input via the composite and outputed via scart. Get one of these (making sure it's the sort with the switch) and a set of cables, it also means you can break the sound off into a PA. http://www.newmp3technology.com/prodimages/scartnew.jpg Your ideal to use the arial connect might work if it's a high end STB. However on most STBs the arial out is just carries the signal staight from the arial (it does not add the enencoded digital signal). It's intended so you can still watch analogue using your TVs built in tuner. EDIT: Actualy your laptop dongal is digital, so you should just be able to plug it straight into the arial without using the STB.
rf600 Posted June 5, 2009 Posted June 5, 2009 I was just about to say all that about the scart convertor needing to be an output rather than a input. You might also want to check that the composite cable are plugged into your projector, as we had one that had the connectors on the wall but no actual cables going to the projector James
firefox_2006 Posted June 5, 2009 Author Posted June 5, 2009 What channel is it on? You could just hook up a laptop showing this web site: TVCatchup - Never Miss A Show Again errr ITV1 I think, will give that site ago thanks for your replies
strawberry Posted June 5, 2009 Posted June 5, 2009 slingbox. Sling Media - Home of the Slingbox plug in scart cable to sling box, setup software on laptop, enjoy.
