[ms office - 2003] office 2007 interop assemblies

Got a laptop with office 2003 that won't send an email from a publisher email document, the error message is

 

Publisher could not start the e-mail program.

 

Check your network connection. Make sure Office is installed correctly, you e-mail program is set up correctly, and you can connect to your e-mail server.

 

 

Googling comes up with the suggestion that remnants of office 2007 may be the cause, namely Interop assemblies' sure enough I have office 2007 interop assemblies in add/remove programs - if I uninstall this will it mess up my office 2003 installation?
