Mount ISO with daemon tools

I have a piece of software that doesn't want to work without it having a CD in the drive. I was wondering does anybody have an example script that I could look at that mounts the ISO from a shared network drive when a user launches the shortcut from the All Programs menu and when the program is exited, it unmounts it?

 

I am using DaemonTools 3.47.

 

Furthermore, how do you get the virtual drive to mount to, say, drive letter Z rather than the next available drive letter?

Rather than mount the ISO on a particular drive, it might be easier to map the drive to a network share containing the extracted files.

 

Years ago I had a bunch of awkward software like this, and set up batch files that would clear a particular drive letter (J), map it to a share ("net use"), and then run the software from there.

I did extract it but the software keeps asking for the CD. The software in question is Ejay Dance 7 and apparently there is a network version of this, but the music department went ahead and brought 20 of these CDs without consulting my NM in the first place.

...have you tried manually mounting the ISO from a network drive, as you suggest, to see if that works...? And if so, have you tried mapping a drive directly to a folder containing a copy of the CD...? (I wouldn't have thought that would look any different to the client, but it's easier to configure.)

Take a gander at:

We use it here and disable the tray icon. All you do is make a special text file that gives it the commands and it mounts and starts the iso for you. Just create a shortcut to the file and boom, your done.

 

NOTE: We use it with Daemon-tools 3, no idea how it is with 4

I did try mounting it and it does work because the software is happy that the CD is in the drive, even though it's just an ISO on a virtual drive.

 

I've created a script and will try this out tomorrow. I just need to know how I can deploy daemontool and get it to have the drive letter Z and not E.

I made a script for autoit that can change the drive letters as well

Sorry to drag up a very old thread but i have today been passed a very old peice of software which acts in this exact way. I will try creating a bat file that maps a drive to the extracted ISO this afternoon but i was wondering if anyone could post up an example script using demon tools or the like to do this.
