[ubuntu] Desktop 8 in Windows 2003 domains (GPO?)

We have some spare old machines which were going to be used for Windows Thin Client - but I have decided to spend some time playing with Linux.

 

It may be a stupid question, but can Linux be controlled with Windows 2003 GPO settings? I've found this....

 

Group Policy for UNIX, Linux and Mac

 

But I am assuming it costs a bit.

 

What do other people do to tie the desktop down in Linux? I hope the AD authentication and linking the networked MyDocs is going to be easy (any advice or pointers to websites welcome).
