Clean CC4 install experiences

One of my schools is considered a clean CC4 installation. Currently I would advise to wait for a bit but we have some money that needs to be spent and won't have it again.

 

So I was wondering if anyone has a clean CC4 install that they are happy with and could share their experiences?

The school is a small primary school with approx 30 laptops and 25 desktops on a School share network (so really could do with some some thing a bit more sophisticated).

 

I am conscious of taking a system that people are generally happy with but is a nightmare to manage and replacing with something worse.

2 schools here that are both pretty happy with it. Some issues getting there but it's running well now.

 

Also worth noting that SR1 has been "release candidated" as of today after a successful trial. As of now, any CC4 install done by RM will be SR1. Other users will be SR1'd in June.

 

As it stands, I find it a LOT better and more intuitive to manage than CC3 with some little "common sense" changes that make life a piece a cake. And with SR1 it'll (hopefully) be even better.

Been gathering feedback and generally it seems that small, fresh installs are going ok, so leaning toward going for it.

Key point: How new are the schools laptops/PCs and how much RAM do they have? Anyone who's been there will very likely agree that a realistic minimum h/w spec for running CC4 XP stations is similar to what you need to get a reasonable experience running standalone Vista.

As a comparison for the above post, one of my schools is using it on original RM One units (p4 based celerons, 512mb ram). Have installed on older machines elsewhere, in some instances with less memory (256mb) and it did run like a lame dog. Doubling the memory does wonders for it, but it is still rather hungry.
