phily Posted May 11, 2009 Posted May 11, 2009 Sorry if this has been covered before, but I can't find an entry... New smartboard and speakers fitted. Connection from spreakers direct to USB port. Plays sound perfectly well for a couple of hours then nothing. The USB port on the computer dies. The installer will, of course, replace if faulty but says he hasn't had the issue before. Any ideas?

western Posted May 11, 2009 Posted May 11, 2009 Does the speakers stop working after the pc goes into power save mode?
Boon72 Posted May 11, 2009 Posted May 11, 2009 i've got the same problem, last week on monday i was called to say the sound didn't work, when i started the pc without the usb in them and then added the usb it was detected and worked, but then on friday it had stopped again.
TechSupp Posted May 11, 2009 Posted May 11, 2009 Maybe been covered before but is the power saving mode enabled on the USB hub itself (system properties -> hardware -> properties.
phily Posted May 11, 2009 Author Posted May 11, 2009 Power save mode is not an issue. The port goes down and stays down. I plugged in a USB optical mouse into the 2 ports that didn't work for sound and it wouldn't power up. As soon as the speakers ae plugged into another USB port, the computer detects them and starts to work. But I'm going to run out of working ports! I've had issues before where firewire has 'burnt out' following prolonged use, I wonder if there could be a similar issue but I suspect not.
