If anyone is able to provide me with a quote for some desktops it would be most appreciated. We are moving away from our regular supplier due to multiple ongoing problems.

 

Specs Req'd:

 

Dual Core Proc, AMD/Intel but Intel preferably. 2Ghz+

1GB DDR2

SATA HDD - 80GB+

Front USB

 

Warranty included.

 

No DVD-ROM required.

 

If anyone is able to provide a rough cost or can direct me to a good supplier Id be most greatful.

1GB isn't a whole lot these days, might be worth considering 2GB.

I can think of a couple of good suppliers for you:

 

CP-LTD (An Edugeek Sponsor) for prebuilt HP/Dell/etc.

SCL (Another Edugeek Sponsor) for bespoke stuff built to your needs.

No, we will be sorting a new school agreement out so licensing shouldn't be an issue for now.

1GB isn't a whole lot these days, might be worth considering 2GB.

RTB 1 year minimum. With our previous supplier they picked up faulty equipment (local company), so didnt think about that!

I'd be looking at 2GB as a standard if the PCs are to be kept for a few years, I mean, 1GB is the minimum requirement for Windows 7 now so it makes sense to stay above that.

 

Manufacturers warranty will easily cover your 1 year RTB but I'd imagine suppliers will provide 3 years onsite as standard.

Yes we will, in the past we've bought the monitors seperately from dabs but if the price is right...

 

I agree with the memory thing, but unfortunately we're so tight on funds this year, due to a complete overhaul of our network, server, switches, fibre to each room, new domains etc.. that we're penny pinching at the moment. Stupid I know! But again, if the price is good then I'll take as much memory as I can.

I would also recommend you go that bit further and get 2GB of Ram, its not all that expensive now to upgrade, i am sure if you speak to one of edugeek sponsors (suppliers) they will be able to sort you out.

 

Warrenty should be fine, and yes most suppliers now give out 3 years warrenty as standard for schools.

 

I have had pc's from simon and he looks after everyone , i have not really spoke to any other edugeek sponsors regarding pc's but every edugeek sponsor is highly recommended.

Please remember that the licences through the schools agreement are not OEM ones they are upgrade licences so you MUST have licences on the machines. These can be OEM ones, or full retail boxed ones. OEM licenses are non-transferable from machine to machine so you must have them basically as I don't know many people that buy full retail copies of MS Software.
