[ms office - 2003] Excel - Countif ("A*") problem

Hello All,

 

I want to COUNTIF all the pupils who have an "A*" grade in a spreadsheet.

 

=COUNTIF(GradeRange,"A*")

 

However, Excel sees the astrix as a wildcard and counts any cell with an "A" in it.

 

Is there a way of instructing excel not to see the '*' as a wildcard criteria?

Never knew that. Much better than my solution of suggesting manually changing all A* to A+

I did the same as above and replaced A* with A+. Ah well.
