The Tomcat Apache Service

OK guys, I'm struggling a bit here and wondered if you can help.

 

As part of the installation, the QCA seems to create a username that is only referenced on my server as "./tomcat"

 

Does that mean that it's a local user / service?

 

I'm putting stop/start service scripts in place to try and stop the memory leak problems that I have, but the tomcat service starts with the above username, and needs a password.

 

How the heck would I manage to work out what that password is?

The user is a local user, called tomcat, and the default password is hidden in a file in the program directory somewhere. Or just change it

I wouldnt call it hidden

Its a local user which is created by the installer, so there isn't really any way of finding out the password. You could reset it though as this should be the only service that uses it.

i dont know if this will help, but you could use the log on option within services to change the username and password used to start the service....

 

I dont think this will affect the QCA Testing software, but it might be worth looking at the postmaster service aswell, as they are both linked.... database and webserver... and that might need changing aswell

when i wrote batch didnt need username password uses following commands

 

net stop "tomcat"

net stop "postmaster"

 

 

then start up is

 

net start "postmaster"

net start "tomcat"

 

Seems to work for me

The password for the tomcat user can be taken from the file [APS Install Directory]\APSPASS.INI. The line starting TOMCAT_PASSWORD contains the tomcat password.
