mattx Posted April 15, 2009 Posted April 15, 2009 Saw this last night at the Shaw - can highly recommend it - [ to the older forum members ] Theatre review: Maggie's End, Shaw, London | Stage | The Guardian
Dos_Box Posted April 15, 2009 Posted April 15, 2009 New Labour is back in power for a fourth term Definitely a work of fiction then. And 100% written by lefties.
mattx Posted April 15, 2009 Author Posted April 15, 2009 Definitely a work of fiction then What were you expecting ? That tends to happen when you go to the theatre.......
mattx Posted April 15, 2009 Author Posted April 15, 2009 I was of course referring to Labours 4th term. They still have quite a high majority - i think it will be close to a hung parliment next time round.
Disease Posted April 15, 2009 Posted April 15, 2009 hehe Labour have about as much chance of getting back in as I have of changing my network over to Linux next week. 1
mattx Posted April 15, 2009 Author Posted April 15, 2009 hehe Labour have about as much chance of getting back in as I have of changing my network over to Linux next week. They have a majority of 66 at the moment which is still quite high - to turn that would be quite a feat. Like I already said, a hung parliment is the most likely result or they get back in by the skin of their teeth. I would prefer a Hung Parliment myself.
jamesb Posted April 15, 2009 Posted April 15, 2009 I would prefer a Hung Parliment myself. Then maybe we can scrap this ridiculous failed democracy experiment.

Disease Posted April 15, 2009 Posted April 15, 2009 They have a majority of 66 at the moment which is still quite high - to turn that would be quite a feat. The only reson they have that majority is because hardley any seats that have come up for election, and the ones that have come up they have lost. People are sick to death of them, long may it be before they are ever allowed to run our country again.

Diello Posted April 15, 2009 Posted April 15, 2009 Never underestimate the power of the masses to do incredibly stupid things... it wouldn't surprise me at all if they voted Labour back in. Gluttons for punishment.
srochford Posted April 15, 2009 Posted April 15, 2009 Never underestimate the power of the masses to do incredibly stupid things... it wouldn't surprise me at all if they voted Labour back in. Gluttons for punishment. Or they could vote the Conservatives in and get a different kind of punishment.
witch Posted April 15, 2009 Posted April 15, 2009 The problem is...these are EXACTLY the same sentiments as were expressed in 1997 when Labour did manage to overthrow the Tories and get in. At the time, we were pleased to rid the country of the power-mad, corrupt government. And now???
mattx Posted April 15, 2009 Author Posted April 15, 2009 Still, I'm looking forward to the day Maggie snuffs it - I have a few parties to attend when it happens.
