One of my primary schools has just got a phonecall informing them that they are going to have an OFSTED IT inspection.

Anyone been through one of these and can share their experiences?

Heh yeah, did look at the date, if it had happened tomorrow then I would be dubious.

But by the way the ICT coord is running around, it aint no joke :)

These visits are subject surveys...

Subject survey inspections enable us to gather in-depth evidence on a topic - such as citizenship or religious education - from a sample of schools. We then comment on the strengths and weaknesses of provision, as well as issues that need to be addressed by schools or at a local or national level. We also gather examples of effectiveness in schools' work that can be shared more widely.

Aspect surveys vary from short 'rapid response' inspections on issues such as exclusions and community cohesion, to longer term surveys such as inspection of the National Strategies and workforce reform.

Although we are a secondary we had one ourselves only a few weeks ago

I suggest you read The importance of ICT: information and communication technology in primary and secondary schools, 2005/2008 / Thematic reports / Documents by type / Browse all by / Publications and research / Ofsted home / Ofsted - Ofsted

These inspections in primary and secondary provide the data for these reports

Do you know who the inspector is?

Some of the less technically confident members of staff are really worried about this now.

This is interesting as my three schools were all full Ofsteded recently and none of the teams had any interest in IT, to the point where when we tried to demonstrate how we used our VLE the inspector said "Hmm whats a VLE?"

Guess this lot will be on the ball though.
