Media Sharing across network

Hi guys,

 

Just a quick question to see what your thoughts are:

 

I am currently trying to come up with a homeserver type system for use within the school.

 

Currently the teachers (bless them) have movies, pictures, and data all over the network.

 

Any ideas or recommendations on this sort of thing.

 

I was maybe thinking of using an old server with some shares setup, but thought maybe there was a better way.

In an ideal world or does this really happen at your school? I'll be interested if it does how many times you beat the staff with a stick!
