computer browser service keeps stopping

Tomorrow is my last day and this network is definitely making me work right until the end!!

 

 

For some reason starting yesterday the computer browser service on the windows server 2003 keeps stopping causing our office staff to get kicked out of SIMS. Nothing is showing in the event logs, has anyone else had this and fixed it?

Take a look at your group policies - see if you have the computer browser service set to be disabled or something for your workstations.

 

Another thing to check on the 2003 - service dependencies, see if the computer browser service depends on another service (or indeed any other component) and check that.

 

Hopefully this isn't too late to help you or provide something.

Beware of CONFICKER!!!

 

Check your scheduled tasks, have you got a load of ATxx scheduled tasks in there!

These services start to fall over when your server has caught a cold.

 

If so you will be leaving with a cloud hanging over your cv!

Ive done a scan and nothing was found and the only scheduled tasks are the lunchtime scan and the SIMS backup!

just for reference this can occur if you stop (or disable)the windows firewall/ICS service.
