Internet Died!

It's interesting to realise quite how reliant we are on the internet these days.

Yesterday, I came in to find our net connection was down. It was fasenating

to see the number of people who came to me as they needed to know when the net would be back.

Lessons needed to be rethought, information had to be faxed over from our other site 6 miles away and a few dial ups had to be set up so important e-mails could be read and EMA payments could be processed.

 

We got the connection back at lunchtime today, but it does make you think how everthing grinds to a halt without the net!! :!:

Lost the net for most of yesterday, not good...

Surprisingly few teachers seemed to notice though...

Hehe, I must say I'm addicted to it myself We've lost it for an afternoon on a couple of occassions and felt completely lost Even worse when you have a power cut

We've had the Internet go down once or twice, saved the day by connecting my phone to a machine and created a net connection over 3G GPRS for staff to send email, the latency is horrible. Glad I was on an unlimited data tarrif at the time too!

Ask your LEA/RBC for a redundant Internet connection?

Easynet and our RBC are currently working to make our connection redundant from the POPs to the Internet. Think it's a bit expensive to put fiber down a different route to every school just in case a digger goes through it!
