popit Posted February 24, 2009 Posted February 24, 2009 Hi, I have a question about a VXL Itona thin client. It is a new model. I do not know what model it is. I help someone at my school with these computers. The password got out somehow and someone knows it. On this computer they changed it and now we don't know it. Even I didn't know what the password was until now. My question is, is there ANY way to hack into it and recover the password. (Remember the password is to get into the control panel) Apparently the company did not send a recovery disc. They cannot boot from USB. There has to be some way to get it back without sending it back to the company. They say it will cost $250 to fix. I hope some one knows how to fix this.
LeMarchand Posted February 25, 2009 Posted February 25, 2009 Not overly familiar with Thin Clients, but can't you change the password from the server end?
jamesb Posted February 25, 2009 Posted February 25, 2009 By control panel do you mean the BIOS, or the control panel once its booted? If its the BIOS there'll be some switch on the motherboard which'll reset the password, or you can yank the BIOS battery for a few seconds before replacing it. If in the control panel once its booted up, honestly couldn't help you.
popit Posted March 5, 2009 Author Posted March 5, 2009 No, it cannot be changed from the server. The control panel is after you boot it up.
nut-ed Posted March 5, 2009 Posted March 5, 2009 What country are you in...? I guess not in UK as here you can take your pick of brand new thin-clients from the "big" manufacturers for well under $250....
