Need a Dvd to wmv Program

Anyone know of a Free Dvd to Wmv program as we want to record our recorded Tv so we can stream it.

What sort of DVD are we talking about - commercial protected or your own unprotected material via a DVD recorder?

 

DVD FAB removes encrption and puts file on hard drive, DVD Shrink will extract a single video/audio stream, VirtualDub with MPEG-2 fcchandler's input filter will convert VOBs to avi and MS Moviemaker will convert avi to wmv

I'd use Handbrake to rip (HandBrake), and Super Converter to convert the ripped files.

VLC will play video with the wrong extension...

you can play the vob files in VLC anyway, renaming to avi works for wmp, or has for me.

You can rename the vobs to mpg - as they are just mp2 files with a fancy header - some players will handle them OK

Yeh we have aload of recorded tv which is on Dvds so it not protected. just want a click of a button and walk away job.

 

Can you stream other file type as i have only done it with wmv's

I have found a perfect solution !!! in the name of !!! NERO 9

 

Yes it does cost £30 but hell is it worth it !!

 

You can import a dvd then edit the chapters ect then can export as a WMV !!

You can just change the file extension to what the above have said ie. to MPG then just use Windows Movie Maker to convert to WMV works a treat most of the time we have used it.
