SIMS.net Multiple parents / unlinked accounts

Not sure who to blame with this one the ladies in the admin team or the CTF files from the local primaries but we have a lot of duplicate parents etc on our SIMS system and its going to cause a lot of problems when we hope to roll out the Learning Gateway to our parents.

 

Currently looking at it; each parent having 2 children will receive 2 usernames and logins whereas they should only get the one if linked correctly (not the case for everybody).

 

Is their an easy way to relink all of our students with the correct parents rather then having to manually go through them all? I think its going to be a manual job but i'd rather have the information to hand before I sit down with the office manager next week and let her know what her team is going to have to do to get our data back into a manageable state.

I'm facing a similar situation, and the only real way is to do it manually.

You can delete unlinked contacts, but that wont help, if you've got duplicate parents linked to different siblings.

Thanks, yes thats the problem duplicate parents linked to duplicate siblings. I imagine its going to be a long boring job to fix.

Yer, believe this the only way, you really need to admend the address without the house add something to the end like [DO NOT USE] or such, then remove the address, then add the address back, and it will find all current address records. Unfortunately there is now way to tell which one is unlinks, thus why you add the [DO NOT USE] or such to the unlinked record first.

 

Not a fun task, but you'll be glad once it's done.
