Ranger Tray Icon - Removing

Hello people,

 

I am in the process of testing the new verion of Ranger Remote Control. The issue I have at the moment, is that I have no idea how to remove the little tray icon of the little yellow star down by the clock.

 

I have done the following to try and remove it, but so far nothing has worked:

 

1. I have taken the route "view >> cureent settings >> quiet mode"

2. I have pushed out the new client32.ini to the clients

3. I have disabled all the student toolbars possible

4. I have tried copying a client32.ini from a machine where the tray icon ISNT appearing, and pushing it out to my test client.

 

None of the above is working, and I know I must be missing something somewhere. If anyone has some suggestions as to what I'm doing wrong in this case, I will be very happy indeed. This thing is eating me up inside now .

 

Edit: Before anyone has even logged onto the domain, theres a Ranger Remote Control Client window open next to the logon box. People are still able to send help requests and chat requests even though according to the *.ini it is disabled. Any suggestions on this would be great too, although I suspect its all part of the same issue.

Hello Sven,

 

Have you worked through this problem yet? Sounds like you are trying to uninstall the client. You should be able to do this with an "uninstall" in the Ranger Remote Control Deploy Console. You select the uninstall package and then deploy it to your machines. Let me know if you need more help on this.

What was the solution?

I was deploying the wrong client configuration client32.ini out to the clients. Now I have added the right variables, I have been able to hide ranger totally.
