jamesb Posted February 10, 2009 Posted February 10, 2009 Following on from another thread with an idea, I'm now planning to see if I can repurpose my unused iPod for something else when I get home. My current thought it stripping out its guts and turning it into a cigarette case or business card holder, maybe even a wallet, but any other suggestions are welcome. Has anyone else tried something like this before, and possibly have some advice for me? Is anyone else thinking of repurposing gadgets for much more low-tech roles?
powdarrmonkey Posted February 10, 2009 Posted February 10, 2009 Pricey business card holder... why don't you eBay it if you don't want it?
jamesb Posted February 10, 2009 Author Posted February 10, 2009 Its one of the first generation classics, has about a five minute battery life, and I don't like eBay. Besides, my way's more fun.
tmcd35 Posted February 10, 2009 Posted February 10, 2009 I know the iPod is far too small but maybe this link will get the creative juices flowing... macquarium - Google Image Search 1

I'll have a look when I get home to my unfiltered internet. If I can pull off the iPod repurposing I've got a box of old gadgets, computer parts and so on still sitting at home which I may move on to.
rolfea Posted February 10, 2009 Posted February 10, 2009 cigarette case WOW i'd want one of those. it'd be a subliminal way of sayings Ipods cause smoking related deaths they don't, but the thought is there

Hmm. The economy's in the right state for entrepreneurs now, right?
powdarrmonkey Posted February 10, 2009 Posted February 10, 2009 Hmm. The economy's in the right state for entrepreneurs now, right? Depends if it's something genuinely useful, or just a gadget.
jamesb Posted February 10, 2009 Author Posted February 10, 2009 Depends if it's something genuinely useful, or just a gadget. Oh come on, everyone loves pointless gadgets.

powdarrmonkey Posted February 10, 2009 Posted February 10, 2009 When there's money to spend on them, yes.
gwendes Posted February 10, 2009 Posted February 10, 2009 Replace the battery and CF it? http://zedomax.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2008/01/bluetooth-ipod.jpg (above has bluetooth too)
powdarrmonkey Posted February 10, 2009 Posted February 10, 2009 Hmm, wonder if I can get Debian on that...
tonyd Posted February 10, 2009 Posted February 10, 2009 Not sure about Debian, but, try iPodLinux :: Home http://www.ipodlinux.org/common/Mpipod_withref_notrans.jpg
