mrforgetful Posted March 10, 2009 Posted March 10, 2009 If you go to a festival you have to go all weekend. If you don't you will regret it. We go to Leeds every year regardless of who's on because the night aspect is just as much fun as the music! Having said that I really want to go to the Sonisphere Festival this year to see Linkin Park and Metallica as I can't get tickets for o2 on the 28th

Having said that I really want to go to the Sonisphere Festival this year to see Linkin Park and Metallica as I can't get tickets for o2 on the 28th I agree, at download 08 fave day was the Thursday (though all of there were good) but this year if i don't particularly like the line up for leeds im not going as i need to save as much money for uni as possible. I fancy going to Download, line up sounds brill. I've never been to a festival can you buy tickets for like one day? I'm not a camper! V sounds very good too. Oasis concerts are bad for bottle throwing unfortunately... you have to go to at least 1 festival because never seen anything like them, and if your not camper just stop in travel lodge or something there normally pretty accessible (though to be fair the night life at festival don't often end till 6am, so you would miss out)
rolfea Posted March 10, 2009 Posted March 10, 2009 lol ok so out of the 200 tents with pirate flags ill look for one of the people with dreads lol don't really narrow it down lol but if i do notice you i'll be sure to say hi, Cant wait like 92days I'm definatly going on the wednesday also probably wont take clothes, just aload of food and drink! I write Edugeek on our pirate flag, if you see that somewhere in the camp site then i'll be very suprised! At the moment its planned i'm going along with another two technician from my college course so they won't mind
stu Posted March 11, 2009 Author Posted March 11, 2009 Cool, there new rule this year about gas bottles we do need to let you know about some important changes to the rules and regs about bringing gas canisters and petrol to Download. In the main campsites, you will not be permitted to bring in gas canisters or petrol fuelled cookers. Anyone found in possession of a gas cylinder or petrol may be asked to leave. The recommended cooking stoves are any solid fuel type such as: Disposable BBQ’s Hexi Stove with solid fuel block Gas cylinders will be permitted in the Campervan Site, providing they are professionally installed and certificated in a caravan/campervan. Gas cylinders will be permitted in the RIP campsite and Disabled Access campsites as these areas are much easier to ensure responsible usage. Petrol fuelled cookers and generators will not be permitted in any campsite. Basically its buy food there or tinned meat like hot dogs and cold soup (BBQS are pain to cook on specially every meal. will deffo keep eye out for Jollygeek, dont know what our flag will be this year last year was white and said The Tashe Blackpool on it but think were gonna try harder this year, I pretty sure will be camping in blue camp as it was ace last year and now its really close to the arena

Doesn't surprise me, I fully expect reading festival and others to follow suit, the amount of idiots starting fires and throwing cannisters on is beyond a joke, so it was only a matter of time until they made a condition like this. Luckily I always budget a lot of cash for these weekends, and can't normally be bothered to cook, so I don't bring a stove, but plenty of people do and it will annoy some no doubt.
stu Posted March 11, 2009 Author Posted March 11, 2009 i normally drink soup straight from the can any way so that don't bother me but at £3.50 for a burger and £4.00 for cheese burger i cant afford to be eating there food all the time, and burgers will got off if in a tent for few days. And yeah the gas bottle to fire thing was getting out of hand at Leeds last year there was one within the Wednesday evening whilst people were still setting up there tents, don't see point myself.
rolfea Posted March 11, 2009 Posted March 11, 2009 I never saw a problem with the Gas canisters at download, but then it could have got worse last year. Unfortunately a red hot gas canister isn't the easiest thing to hide by quickly chucking it in your tent. I'm certainly not buying the food in the site though. I wonder if we can break in the RIP section just to cook?
stu Posted March 11, 2009 Author Posted March 11, 2009 I never saw a problem with the Gas canisters at download, but then it could have got worse last year. Nah download was fines hardly any last year its Leeds and Reading that seem to be problem, if your tent has a grass porch bit u'll probs get away with hiding it in there but yeah new ruling sucks like the thought of breaking in to RIP though i wanna do that anyway just to see what its like.
rolfea Posted March 11, 2009 Posted March 11, 2009 it's true, never seen the RIP section. I think we'll just find a way of bodge jobbing a BBQ to cook soup or something along those lines.
