Dom_ Posted January 29, 2009 Posted January 29, 2009 Hi guys, wasn't quite sure where to put this... We're having a problem this morning where every user is getting 'Sims connection failed for Login ######, reason 0' I think it could be that some services aren't running on the server, does anyone know which services need to be running for sims to work? (Thought i'd post it here as you guys respond faster than capita ) Cheers, Dom
localzuk Posted January 29, 2009 Posted January 29, 2009 All the SQL services installed (SIMS2005, Browser, VSS Writer etc...), also, the SIMS.net Document Server needs to be running. Also, the machines need to be able to reach the sims drive (with us that is S: drive). Have you tried the simple option, and restarted the server? 1
Dom_ Posted January 29, 2009 Author Posted January 29, 2009 I did restart the server, we had a powercut and got the message that some services didn't start when coming back up, the drive is definitely mapped (doesn't even connect on the server itself). I'll go check those services - thanks mate
glastotech Posted January 29, 2009 Posted January 29, 2009 I had this when the serevr lost power, LA had to re-connect the SIMS database to SQL2005 as the database instance had become corrupted, know this probably not the news you wanted to hear......
Dom_ Posted January 29, 2009 Author Posted January 29, 2009 Hmm, our connect.ini timeout was set to 1 (millisecond) - which caused the problem. No idea how that changed! Cheers for your suggestions guys - its fixed
powdarrmonkey Posted January 29, 2009 Posted January 29, 2009 No idea how that changed! The SIMS fairy. You know, the one that also tests releases.
