pc won't log on to network

Hi

 

When trying to log on to one of our pc's after putting the username/password in an error comes up saying something like can't find domain controller. All other pc's work fine.

 

The server report is showing the error below. What does it mean?

The session setup from the computer GLM10 failed to authenticate. The name(s) of the account(s) referenced in the security database is GLM10$. The following error occurred: Access is denied.

 

This did happen to another pc last week and I had to remove it from the domain and add it back in again to get it working.

Sounds like the machine account in AD might be getting corrupted or locked out, if these machines are imaged have they had their GUIDs randomised as two machines with the same one will cause issues in AD.

The machine that stopped logging on last week has been running fine for a couple of years.

 

The machine that stopped logging on yesterday (GLM10) is a new pc that was added to the network in teh last 2 weeks.

 

Images were not used but I wonder if there is a link between the 2.

You will see this error when, for whatever reason, the machine's account password has been changed but the machine hasn't updated. Usually, this means something else changed it - classic problem is having two machines named the same joined to the domain.

Computer account in AD looks to be corrupted, Microsoft's recommended fix is to remove it from the network, delete the account in AD and add it again.
