Sharepoint .dll files - deployment

Hi,

 

We have just started giving staff access to a Sharepoint Portal which is run by our LEA.

 

When a computer accesses the website for the first time the member of staff is prompted to download and install a .dll file. Throught their use of the portal they are asked to download several different .dll files.

 

So my question is split into two:

 

1. Does anyone have a list of all the .dll files Sharepoint might want to install on the local workstation?

 

2. Can anyone tell me if I can deploy them around the network using an MSI. I can then get the .dll files from the LEA and deploy them.

This all seems a bit suspect to me. Our Sharepoint VLE does no such thing.

 

It sounds to me like something is wrong with the ASP setup and instead of running the .dll on the server to generate content, it's serving them up as a download. I think it's time to make a call to your LEA's support team.

Good ol' Name.dll I assume. Can't see anything on deploying it, but Microsoft has a KB on removing the prompt - Message in the Information bar in Internet Explorer 7 when you browse to a Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 site or to a SharePoint Server 2007 site: "The Web site wants to run the following add-on: 'Name ActiveX Control'"
