anyone know of a make of keyboard where the keys can't be pulled off and swapped around? i seem to be spending hours putting keys back in the right place

I can't recommend kit, but I can recommend education.

We used to have this issue until we forced staff to use seating plans (or we charged them for damage/withdrew room access) and it meant that if student A damages a keyboard in lesson 1, student B should report it in his "pre use" checks of the machine, and should he not, he is responsible.)

This coupled with checking cached profiles as our kids can't touch type so would need the keys in the right place to log on!

You could always try the Das Keyboard Ultimate ThinkGeek :: Das Keyboard Ultimate

Mostly you just have to put up with it, although I think teachers could do more to help prevent the problem.

Another option, viable now USB is standard, would be to issue a keyboard and mouse to each student at the start of the year. If they want to swap keys around or vandalise the mouse, they that's their lookout. You could charge a phone number range price for issuing a replacement.

I'll wager 20 minutes before they start trying to steal each others keys...
