I have no idea how the damn thing is set up, servers are not my area, thats why the boss gets paid more than me. Anyway i have just told people to email me requests directly for now. The boss can sortit out when he is back from holiday.

After some digging i have found the following error. "Problem activating outbound server: The server smtp.salesiancollege.co.uk refused the connection on port 25. Please note that SMTP via proxy is not supported." I have no idea what it means.

I’m using Spiceworks as a help desk, email support tickets are coming in but when i post a reply the recipient dose not receive it. The systems manager is away and i am trying to cover for him. I am mainly an AV tech who does some basic computer stuff but emails and exchange servers are not on list of things I know about. I am guessing the mail is being stuck in the exchange server somewhere. Our exchange server is running win server 2008 R2 and we use exchange 2010. I have already restarted the POP3 service in services but this is the extent of my email knowledge. Any help would be appreciated

we use headphones with 2 or 4 way splitters, we use to have speakers but as you said the volume battle was a bit much. we keep the headphones locked in a cupboard in the computer room so they can just grab them at the start of the lesson. the teacher walks around with a set of headphones and just plugs in when she wants to listen to a group, or they save it in there music folder and she can listen in her own time.

Our school runs Cubase SE, we use the general Midi sounds (microsoft GS wave table ) that comes with the computer, triggerd via a USB keyboard, the only problem using external Midi devices (in this case the GM sounds from the motherboard) is you cant export the whole song as a file. This is where VSTi's (virtual studio technology instruments) are handy as they route the audio through the cubase mixer you can manipulate it with FX's and EQ and also export it. General Cubase problems include notes getting stuck on. this is caused by the sequencer receiving the note on message (the signal sent when you press a key) but failing to get the note off message (the signal sent when you release the key) this is cured by going to the MIDI drop down menu and selecting reset. keyboards not working: if a USB midi keyboard is plugged in after cubase has been opened the sequencer will usually no accept input from it, its the same if you pull the USB lead out half way through you work. just save your work and reopen cubase. For a truly awsome set up get Reason as well. you can sync Reason with Cubase via the ReWire protocol and use all the Reason instruments and sequence it in Cubase. this is the setup i use at home and it works really well. there are also loads of free VSTi's out there.

anyone know of a make of keyboard where the keys can't be pulled off and swapped around? i seem to be spending hours putting keys back in the right place

trying to view a webcam with a class however no streams seem to appear. i am usim WMP 9 series, i know the webcam is broadcasting as i knlw the guy that runs the site. it just comes up as 'ready' but no stream. im prety new to the whole webcam thing so any help would be good

we use audacity and we have never had that problem. personally i hate audacity, give me cool edit pro any day.

make sure they know from the start that you are the boss and things are done your way. do it in a nice and friendly way and let them know if they have any ideas to make things better then they can discuss it with you, but if you are they boss let them know it early on.

i do 37 hours a week and i still cant get it all done. we do have over 200 computers though.
