Hi all,

We have made Eportal (Our MIS registration webpage) external..

It was working fine until they released a new upgrade and i had to remove everything from IIS and re install it...

Now when they reach the external page a weird credentials box pops up ?

it looks like its logginginto its self?

You can enter anything you want into either Username or password and it loads just fine, just need to get rid of this credentials box !!

If i try and enter the webpage via the IP address it does the same.

Has anyone any suggestions please?

If you cancel you get the following error..

You need to allow anonymous access in IIS, i can't remember where it is off the top of my head. It is somewhere under the webpage settings

Should integrated Windows Auth be checked?

Also might be worth resetting the service account password or trying another user

not sure if windows should be ticked or not? it doesnt make any difference to the problem...

BUT.... i unticked Annon Access and then tested, it this time NEEDED a legit user/pass... i then RETICKED anonn access and it still needs a username and pass, where as before it needed any text typed into it..

So can i just reset that IUSR_ISS account pass? and update in IIS?

Will it have a knock on for other things?

Thanks for the replies

I would untick the box.

I would make another service account and give read NFTS rights to the files of the website.

Anonymous access should be ticked and Windows authentication unticked. If you visit e-portal by entering:

http://localhost

does it still ask for authentication? This may also help, detailing the different types of authentication.

All sorted.

There was a 2nd virtual Directory as well as Eportal called "Jakarta" that i think was the apache side of it.

This had "Windows Intergration" ticked.

As the Microsoft link said, it would try the most secure auth method first, so i guess it was trying windows auth and then failing and using the guest account

Thanks for the replies everyone :) :) :)
