nslookup failing

After seemingly solving my problem of getting workgroup machines to register in DNS I have a new problem.

 

Although the machines are now registering in DNS, nslookup fails for forward lookups.

 

So, say the DNS is on a server called SB with a forward lookup up zone name of SB.net.In SB.net zone there is a record for a machine called Suite1 with its IP address. If I try 'nslookup Suite1' I get:

 

Server: SB.SB.net

Address: 10.58.48.5

 

*** SB.SB.net can't find Suite1: Server failed

 

So its obviously finding the DNS server but the lookup is failing, but the record for that machines is definitely in the DNS forward zone.

 

Any ideas why the lookups are failing?

D'oh, as I am using a suffix to register I need to lookup the FQDN

You should be able to have the machine append the right domain if you don't supply it, so that you can use short addresses like Suite1. Depends which machine you're doing the lookup on.
