Gatt Posted January 7, 2009 Posted January 7, 2009 (edited) Still a bit of WIP.. but we finally have a decent site - only taken what 3 years Moorside High School Also got Moodle started (not open for guests yet though - will try and get something sorted there..) http://www.moorsidehigh.com/moodle Edited January 7, 2009 by Gatt Working now!!
Edu-IT Posted January 7, 2009 Posted January 7, 2009 What's with the three links at the bottom of your Moodle?
Gatt Posted January 7, 2009 Author Posted January 7, 2009 Part of the theme I think - will remove them once the main site is back online
Edu-IT Posted January 7, 2009 Posted January 7, 2009 Site is working! You still have some of the default content though. The Maths & Computing logo also looks blurred. 1
Gatt Posted January 7, 2009 Author Posted January 7, 2009 Will look into the logo... Content is to be updated as soon as we can get SLT & the Depts to come up with the content..
Edu-IT Posted January 7, 2009 Posted January 7, 2009 Will look into the logo... Content is to be updated as soon as we can get SLT & the Depts to come up with the content.. I see! Hmm. Perhaps the site shouldn't have gone live until it was complete? That's just my opinion though. Looking good though Gatt.
antoeknee Posted January 7, 2009 Posted January 7, 2009 We've finally got our site up and running though there is still some work to be done. Can't get the authority to sort out the firewall so that we can update the site from the school. One of the technicians has to do this from home. Breeze Hill School - Home Incedentally I went to Moorclose. Was some considerable time ago though.
Gatt Posted January 7, 2009 Author Posted January 7, 2009 @Edu-IT - Beyond my control - did say it should wait until content had been added! @antoeknee - Moorclose or Moorside
Gatt Posted January 7, 2009 Author Posted January 7, 2009 OK, been messing with my Moodle Front Page and anyone can see what categories (aka subjects) we have on offer - but need to login to see the courese, etc Will try and add some news modules or similar to it as well... Any suggestions? Also going to keep prodding SLT to get content onto the Joomla site .... Watch this space...
antoeknee Posted January 8, 2009 Posted January 8, 2009 @Edu-IT - Beyond my control - did say it should wait until content had been added! @antoeknee - Moorclose or Moorside Oops, its been a long day.
mrcrazy04 Posted January 8, 2009 Posted January 8, 2009 The XHTML and CSS validation links don't work - I think changing the uri querystring parameter to "referer" ought to do the trick.
daboroe Posted January 8, 2009 Posted January 8, 2009 how do you have the caption on the photo? I see that all the time and do not know how that is done. thanks
Gatt Posted January 8, 2009 Author Posted January 8, 2009 Oops, its been a long day. Know the feeling - school seems to be picking itself up again - after last OFSTED and with the new HT things are looking up - despite BSF over our heads.. The XHTML and CSS validation links don't work - I think changing the uri querystring parameter to "referer" ought to do the trick. Cheers, will look into why thats not playing ball how do you have the caption on the photo? I see that all the time and do not know how that is done. Older version of the EduGeek pack IIRC.. wasn't it removed for legal or compatibility reasons? Cant remember now.. It was very handy though I have to admit...
kmount Posted January 8, 2009 Posted January 8, 2009 New Headteacher Appointed On Friday 19th December 2008, the Governors of the school announced that a new Headteacher had been appointed following an intensive process of interviews during the previous two days. Mr Ian Shaw, Chair of Governors, was very pleased to announce that the new Headteacher is Mr Nigel Ogden who has been acting Headteacher for the Autumn term and was Deputy Headteacher of the school prior to that. Mr Ogden will take up the post as of January 1st 2009 Pretty poorly written; consider updating it if it's the "main news article" on the front page. Otherwise it's looking really good mate, well done.
Gatt Posted January 8, 2009 Author Posted January 8, 2009 Thanks kmount will pass that on. I, deliberately, don't deal with most of the content of the site. Most of the news articles have been written by a member of SLT. Also suggested that HoDs to be responsible for updating their own subject areas I know I know - not much chance of it.. but if I dont I will end up being responsible for the entire site.. At the least they could draft something up and we can get someone elseo to do the inputting...
kmount Posted January 8, 2009 Posted January 8, 2009 It's looking good fella; wish I could motivate myself enough to redo our site ground up.
Gatt Posted January 8, 2009 Author Posted January 8, 2009 (edited) Hmm - took a look at the xhtml validator and it was coded as this: url ?>" target="_blank" title="XHTML 1.0 Transitional valid">XHTML 1.0 Which doesn't work until i manually add in my URL: XHTML 1.0XHTML 1.0 EDIT: Ok how do I stop it translating the URL to the Page Title?
