Lightweight FTP Client

Hello All,

 

I'm looking out for a lightweight, free FTP client, for some of our students to upload work to an internal FTP server.

 

I've tried Firezilla, however it doesn't seem to want to play with Ranger.

 

Has anyone got any favorites?

How about something like Web folders (Webdav)

I use FTP Surfer, Its free and Fast and recovers from any errors or drop put that might happen when transfering large files.

Does Explorer/Internet Explorer not support "Folder View" of FTP sites anymore?

 

Quickest way to upload something used to be just ftp://blahblah/myfolder in the address bar...

Take a look at WinSCP There is a portable version that runs without installation.

 

+1 for WinSCP, it does sftp as well which is nice. I just love it because its free and works.

I use FileZilla all the time, does sftp also.

 

Have you tried changing the Transfer mode to "active"?

The ftp command is pretty lightweight...

 

But serious, +1 for winscp (and extra kudos if you can teach them what the other methods in it are, why they matter, and how to use them).

Have had problems using FileZilla for SFTP, but CoreFTP lite is OK. Also used LeechFTP on occasion and that also works well.
