No, It's not me bashing teachers, It's a BBC article! Anyone else see this?

Bit unfair on the woman to be honest, as I can think of a great deal more teachers who "fail to plan" and "cannot manage behaviour".

I would say good on the School and the Courts for making a stand, hopefully a few teachers will sit up and make an effort and get out of their "I cannot be sacked" bubble. Altho from the article I belive there must be more to it, I know a dozen teachers who fail to plan lessons and cannot control children.

OFSTED inspectors must think that children smell of paint!

The art teachers here assure me that the kids do, in fact, smell of paint and occasionally PVA glue. ... something to do with the onset of puberty I think :D

Could this happen in England and Wales, or is it just the Scottish system?

I feel sorry for her really. It's a shame that it had to come to this and she got all the bad publicity she's getting. Few people deserve public humiliation just for being bad at their job.

It would have been much better for everyone if she could have just quietly left the profession, or been gently pushed out by her school or LA.

I agree with AlexPilot, in that it might make more struggling teachers rethink their position and do the decent thing.
