Why don't you just try returning the opened one? With a good story (e.g. she bought one herself out of our joint account and now we're a bit strapped for cash, etc) they may well take it back and give you a refund. I've done that sucessfully before. Worth a try and better than the piddling amounts some of these fellas above have offered...
