I'm looking for a freeware/Open Source application to recover and view NTBackup bkf files. Anyone know of any?

I don't know of a way of recovering BKF files, but as a recommendation, I would enable backup verification. This should then highlight any problems with future backups you're creating.

 

Ultimately however, the only way of ensuring a backup works is by performing a restore.

Ok thanks for that. Verification is enabled and was completing fine but keep getting the message "The backup file contains unrecognized data and cannot be used" when trying to catalog the set.

Yes. I do a B2D backup
