A teacher has just approached me and said, i dont think it's your fault but....

When you took my projector down and put it back up, all my files got wiped and ActivPrimary is corrupt...

Ahem...anyway..

When double clicking the icon i get "problem with temporary working folder:....Please check you have full access right to the Windows TEMP folder". So i thought stuff it, i'll uninstall it.

Now when trying to reinstall it i get the error "Error 2894, Info, 2894. Loading RICHED20.DLL failed. GetLastError () returned 126"

Have searched for the dll and it is there. Doing a virus scan as well because google keeps bringing a worm virus up. Wondering if i just replacing the dll with one i know is fine would work.

Sounds like the permissions are screwy, you may want to use filemon from MS to see what files/folders the software is attempting to access and then loosen up NTFS permissions on them so that the software can run under a limited user account again.

Ok, im stumped now.

I've completely removed the software from the laptop and registry and then reinstalled.

ActivPrimary 2 goes on fine but comes up with the error "problem with temporary working folder: c:\docum~\user\locals~\temp\activprimary2\Please check you have full access right to the Windows TEMP folder"

Downloaded the recommended software, but i have no idea at the moment how to use it.

HELP!!

Can't think of anything obvious - this is what I would do:

Uninstall the software

Take everything out of the registry

Make sure there is nothing left on the machine to do with AP, including the drivers

Delete the temp folder and then restart the machine

Install the software (are you installing the latest version?)

Pray!

Hello,

If you have permission to all the folders / files the software is attempting to use, you may just need to manually register scrrun.dll. (Start->Run type in "regsvr32 scrrun.dll" )(without the quotes) and press 'Ok'.

Failing that, you might want to try the latest version of the software.

Try using an admin.ini file to move the activ primary directorys to a location that you can control. I found that if the activ primary user files location is on a users network home directory an admin.ini needs to be used to move the location of the users activ primary files otherwise it crashes on shutdown.

example file is:-

[General]

0 = C:\ACTIVprimary2

3 = "C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Documents\ACTIV Software\ACTIVprimary2"

4 = C:\ACTIVprimary2

save as admin.ini in the same directory as the activ primary exe and move the relevant files to these locations

For more info on admin.ini see the following article.
