FN-GM Posted November 16, 2008 Posted November 16, 2008 Congratulations to the 2008 winners - Yahoo! News UK Do you agree with these results?
bizzel Posted November 16, 2008 Posted November 16, 2008 I'd say systems vendor of the year should go to Dell, rather than HP. They've pushed out some consistently high quality kit this year. A lot of the rest I don't know too well but they seem agreeable.
localzuk Posted November 17, 2008 Posted November 17, 2008 I agree with HP being the systems vendor, very high quality kit, very reasonably priced and good warranty support (so far). Not sure about the storage vendor being Symantec though.
FN-GM Posted November 17, 2008 Author Posted November 17, 2008 Software Vendor of the Year: Microsoft I think they missed a word off the start - shi**iest. That's the only award Vista would win. I think they are referring to Server 2008 which in my opinion is a good product.
DMcCoy Posted November 17, 2008 Posted November 17, 2008 I think they are referring to Server 2008 which in my opinion is a good product. 2008 is at best OK. It would be great without the stupidity of vista having been integrated into 2003. It could easily have been bettered by a 2003 R3. For example, how long do you spend waiting for the event log to load on 2003 compared to 2008?
srochford Posted November 17, 2008 Posted November 17, 2008 For example, how long do you spend waiting for the event log to load on 2003 compared to 2008? Agreed; it is slow, but look at the data you get from it - there's is now so much more stuff available from that central console. Not really had to use it in anger yet so I've now idea if it would actually help but it does look as if it should!
john Posted November 17, 2008 Posted November 17, 2008 I agree with those, look fine to me The Symantec storage award will be for Backup-Exec I'd suspect
