Does anyone use the online tests for Granada Learning (Testwise)? The school bought into this and we are getting problems with tests showing up as 'Abandoned' when the students finish the test.

We've been using this recently, the only time I've ever come accross tests being classed as abandoned is when its been closed before the results were submitted.

When the pupil gets to the end of the test they have to press the end button and then wait until it goes back to the main interface where you'll see a checkered flag next to the test name instead of the red one you see at the beginning.

We've been using this for the last month or so and have put most of the school(Y3-8) through maths tests. So far all students except 2 of our year 8's managed to complete the tests without any "technical" issues. One of them claimed to have accidentally clicked on the X and another in the same class shortly after claimed that he had pressed enter and the test closed itself(this pupil is a known trouble maker so he probably thought he could get away with it).

I think it may be an issue with all of the monitoring software we have or the web cache but have not confirmed this. I dont think its a very robust way to implement an online test tho, i mean if anything happens during test they have to start test again. It also really annoying that students have to wait for the timer to run down (dont know if this is a config setting for the test).

We have run this now for 3 years without any problems, appart from pupils exiting the test before it has finished and not submitted their results - "TUFF" they have to redo it.

The first session they are shown how the test works and the rules and what they should and shouldn't do - if they can't be bothered listening and do things wrong then they have to retake at another time. As far as waiting for the timer etc - this is a test, everyone has the same amount of time otherwise it would not be fair - this has replaced the old paper based CATs test which were taken under test/exam conditions, same applies.

What you will find is that the "idiots" will rush through a 10 minute test in 2 minutes - not listening to the spoken instruction screens and just randomly clicking and therefore having to sit there for 8 minutes and getting 0 out of 20 or whatever.

Works extremely well and is far better to manage than the old paper based systems.

I'm working with a school that happens to be experiencing the same issue with their pupils and was wondering if you could provide me with some insight as to how you corrected this issue/what troubleshooting steps you have taken (when you get a second)?

Kind Regards,

Elliott.

We have had three instances of this only this morning. Watched one of the students finish his test correctly however it took him straight back to the beginning. Have a feeling that it might be down to running our internet connection through cachepilot and these specific students going back through their questions (as they are instructed to do) and changing answers from their first attempt. Will keep you posted.....
