I've just been told by the head that a Channel4 film crew will be in this Friday to film something, and part of what they are filming is our assembly.

You guessed it, the assembly needs projector/laptop/DVD all working.

It hasn't failed for a while, and I will be thoroughly testing it before hand but I don't like the thought of a BSOD or something on the day in front of the whole school AND a film crew.

PLEASE WORK!!!!!!!!!!!

Hah..we had them in our CAD suite filming lessons with the LaserCamm..always fun.

BSODs are quite amusing! When we first went to see our "parent" academy, we were walking round muttering "oh, look..a BSOD...and another.."insert boot disk"..hmm.."..

Then they went to give us a "we're what you aspire to be" type of presentation, and bang - on the projector, large as you like..BSOD. We had to chuckle..

If there's a problem, they will probably cut to let you fix it. BTW, has a check been made that all the pupils present have parental consent to be filmed. It's a big issue here because we have a few kids from a local refuge and there's no way they can be filmed.

For life or death stuff I always have a standby setup - if the projector hanging from the ceiling fails then I've got another one already set up on the table with the laptop ready to go and a spare laptop too with all the files (Powerpoint, whatever) on it and cables too all ready to go. And a spare remote, and batteries. There's nothing worse than having to go scurrying off to get something if something decides to go t!ts up.

Obviously I wouldn't recommend this unless you want to give the headteacher a heart attack but starting the presentation with a faked BSOD for 5 seconds followed by a "Just Kidding"... appeals to my somewhat warped humour this morning ;)
