ahunter Posted November 4, 2008 Posted November 4, 2008 Hi, I have recently been asked to start carrying out computer room inspections of all the equipment and to document any problems found. I was just wondering if anyone else does this and if so if they have an inspection sheet template I could have a look at? Thanks Adam.
TechMonkey Posted November 4, 2008 Posted November 4, 2008 We do this occasionally, normally at the end or beginning of a term but it is purely for our own benefit and so we can say that from this date all was OK or we were aware of only these problems. Otherwise I would say that people need to be reporting faults as they find them otherwise if they expect you to pick them up they will never bother and complain that it has been months before anything is fixed. Granted it will probably have been days but perception of reality always causes problems with these things.
GoldenWonder Posted November 4, 2008 Posted November 4, 2008 We check our main suites every morning. Nothing too comprehensive just making sure all are working and the printers are full etc. We don't have a checksheet as such, but any problems found (including vandalism) are logged into our helpdesk
ricki Posted November 4, 2008 Posted November 4, 2008 Hi We do a visual inspection of all main it rooms every morning. We keep a list of faults found and dates and times of inspections on the wall for teachers to be able to see. Richard
steve Posted November 4, 2008 Posted November 4, 2008 We used to check all main suites at least once a week. Unfortunately we just don't have the man power anymore. I've attached the sheet we used.check sheet.zip
Sylv3r Posted November 4, 2008 Posted November 4, 2008 I have a walk around if I can every Thursday after school. Tend to do visual checks, mice all present, all computers are at the logon screen etc, check the printers for low toner messages etc. Then either fix the problem if I can their and then or log it on the helpdesk and one of the technicians will go over and replace toner etc.
CyberNerd Posted November 4, 2008 Posted November 4, 2008 Use a similar inspection sheet to the ones that the caretakers use when they check none of the windows are broken - or do they just rely on teachers REPORTING FAULTS
