downloaded and imported some themes into emerald theme manager, but cannot for the life of me figure out a way to make any of them the active theme?

Had a good go at the NVidia driver last night but it seems I will just have to wait for the new version according to the release notes. Also in some cases you have to specifically define your GFX cards BusID if you have more than one in the xorg.conf.

 

Oh and my webcam works in everything but Skype grrr!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have put this on my dell laptop due to the fact that xp was slowing down to a crawl and had picked up a rather nasty Trojan that wouldn't go away. Also the fact that it picked up the infection just by visiting an infected website.

 

Now I have tried a few Linux distributions, nothing came anywhere near to being as perfect as this. Easy install, great package management, great support for other apps such as picasa 3 (which installed as easy as it does under windows.

 

Even perfect wireless connectivity, it all just works. There is no way I would go back to xp on my laptop, I would even install it on my main home PC if I could get photoshop to run on it.

Mutter, mutter..that's the only arse I had with it. I did the updates and picked the OLDEST version of it..97.xx..works nicely on my 6100.

 

The other 2 just put the screen out to "unsupported" modes.

 

So far, 64 bit Ibex is good...everything works, everythings quick and seamless, nice looking..got XFCE if I find Gnome too slow. Even got my freeview stick working spot on. Shame about Lightscribe not being available, but I can VM Windows if I need that.

 

Jems just installed it on her Dell Duallie laptop - again, it just worked. Wifi apart, and that was the native driver being a pain..I just NDISwrapper'd it with the Win32 one. Spot on.

 

So, we're now a Linux household..2x 64bit Ubuntu 8.10, and one AA1 Netbook running Fedora/Linpus. Not missing anything yet.

Thanks for that! Installed it with the "force achitecture" mode, and I have lightscribe again..
