ICT Technican Manchester/Salford, Willing To Work Free Trial ?

After finishing college and having no experience, just qualifications, Im finding it hard to actually get a job as an ICT Technician. I would be willing to work a free trial to prove myself if anyone can offer me a foot in the door. I am from Manchester, Salford and looking for work round these areas.

 

At college I gained the following qualifications

 

GNVQ ICT (Software)

BTEC Level 2 Computer Maintenance (iPRO)

BTEC Level 3 Computer Maintenance (iPRO) (Networking)

CISCO - I.T Essentials: PC Hardware & Software

 

If anyone could offer me any advice or anything it would be much appreciated. Thanks

The key there mate is to keep looking. I was in a similar situation a few years ago with 2 years experience and still struggled to find anything.

Learn as much as you can from this fantastic forum, get yourself a VMware/windows 2003 server trial installed on your PC and have a play. It sometimes feels like you'll never get there but once the opportunity comes make sure you're ready with a polished interview technique and willingness to learn and improve.

Unfortunately i'm not in your area so I can't really help in person.

I've just quit my job in blackburn (only one train ride away) so there should be an opportunity coming up there soon...once they sort out advertising it.

I'm in the same boat as you. I've just left 6th form this year and then did all my MCSA training, just got to sit the exams, but not really got much 'commercial' experience other than my voluntary visits to a local secondary school, Wellacre Technology College. Times are certainly tough for us here in Manchester but all I can offer is to get your CV posted about like on CWJobs, Jobserve etc and pray lol. That's what I'm doing and well it almost worked as I did get an interview to work in Bolton only for them to rearrange the date when I was on holiday in Greece, where it rained.

 

Anyway hope that's of some help and if anyone wants to throw me a bone and give me a considerable push in the right direction in my search it would be much appreciated too

You ever thought about a apprenticeship I went to college for 1 year doing btec level 3 it practioniers and didnt do my second year I wrote to schools in the local area asking if they was willing to take on a apprentice and a school in the trafford area was intrested and I went for interviews and then I started their at the beginning of the 6 week holidays and it is the best thing ever really enjoy it go to college one day a week though doing Cisco and then on the second year of the apprenticeship i will do mcse at college

If you can afford to work for free somewhere whilst looking for a job/college etc, that in itself will add experience to your CV.

It depends on what qualifications you have and that would depend on how much you get paid where abouts do you live area? I may know some companies in the area and training providers that may help

im located in Salford mate, but would travel into Manchester, and other surrounding areas of Salford really. These are the qualifactions I have
