What monitor will work best in an ICT Suite

I have the shortlist down to three, two are offering a standard 17" monitor and one a 19" widescreen. Bearing in mind that these will be going into a fairly cramped space, what are the thoughts on larger and wider?

Stick with 4:3 ratio (ie not widescreen) and make sure it is glass fronted. LG are doing them for about £100.

Another vote for not widescreen - a lot of education software doesnt seem to display properly on them

If you are worried about the space you could get the widescreens with rotation capible stands that would allow you to use them rotated by 90 degrees which would negate the extra horozontal space requirement. This setup is also very good for document editing in programs like word as you can see much more of the document in one go. I would also agree that it would be a good idea to check out your software for issues with non 4:3 aspect screens.

I'd say 19" non widescreens are Ideal.

For a cramped space - I'd use 17" non-widescreens.

 

19" screens seem enormous when used at close quarters. In a perfect world, with more space available, I'd have 19" though.

Non widescreen and a monitor where the kettle lead plugs straight into it, no separate power supplies.

 

Gawd, yes. A definite second on that. Glass fronted ones are also worth the extra spend if you are in a school where the computers are treated roughly.

19" edge 10's seem to be pretty cheap! deff go for something glass fronted
