Network Install of Studio MX 2004

Hi All

My apology if this is repeating a topic or is in the wrong place. At the school where I work we have a really old copy of Studio MX 2004 education edition, and we have a CSE network and use the Prism Package system for deploying applications.

We are currently having problems with Flash MX 2004, when it has been deployed it asks for the product key again on the first run. Bit annoying when the students start tyring to use it.

CSE have suggested doing a network install of Studio MX, does anyone know how to do this?

I have looked on the Adobe web site and I can’t locate anything helpful.

If anyone has instructions / guidance on how to do this I would be grateful.

I had a very similar problem. I'm affraid i no longer work at the school, so i can't tell you for definate, but i'm sure i found a registry key with the license in, and added the key to the login script for students.

Thanks for your replies, but unfortunately I have had no luck and Flash still presents me with the product key request screen.

I created an MSI using winstallle capturing the reg process. Deployed it and works fine.

I have already tried using Winstalle to capture the registry.

From what I have found out / been told this is something to do with the way this version mx stores its key in the registry and uses the hardware ident to scramble the key, and when the package is deployed to a different computer the software can’t decipher the product key because the hardware ident has changed.

Due to its age all the links on the Internet to any fix or updates no longer work, and the ones that do have no affect of the problem.

From the advice I got from Adobe when I contacted them I put a posting on the adobe forum, and was told in a reply. "Too bad you're stuck with the most buggy of all Flash versions." maybe this is one of those bugs.

hi, I use the wininstallLE method and it works fine,once all the software is installed run the snapshot, regester the software then run the after snapshot...this works on every PC in the school with many hardware configs.

Each user is prompted for serial number even though the product has been serialized

 

I have applied this fix, however it doesn't work across onto other machines once I have re-imaged them. It looks like the fix then needs to be applied individually anyway. I have 400 PC's and don't fancy having to go through them all again to re-apply the fix.

 

Any ideas gratefully received.....

You can install the hotfix silenty using '/s' since it's just a standard Wise installer.
