RM Local Support Tools

I worked for 4 years in a secondary school as Network Manager on a 'vanilla' Windows system and have now moved to a First school running RM. I am new to CC3 ( I already don't like it), but have been reading around and find information on RM 'Local Support Tools' which sounds good, however it is not installed on our sever. We have RM CC3 SR6 and all the info i can find says that it was released with SR4.

 

Does anyone know where I can install it from, as I would like to schedule a w/s build of the ict suit and investigate its other functions.

I have looked on the SR4 discs and there is no local support tools anywhere are you sure this is the service release they are supposed to be on without me having to go on the RM site to verify.

As said above LST is a paid for add on.

 

To be honest, LST can be a bit flaky, took me a long time to get it working properly. Quite handy for performed scheduled remote rebuilds and the like.

This is what interests me the most. I only work part time so i could schedule a re-build for the evening before i work, rather than the evening after. I am then on hand to resolve any problems.

Think it was around £450 when we bought it ages back... Very useful indeed.

wow remote rebuild I had that working on cc 2.4 way back when.

Unfortunately that would not be a politically sound decision at the moment! but I am working on it.

if your going to use LST just for waking up/shutting down stations, then i'd advise against and get something better (like beyondexec, Lanview)

 

It is useful to see whos logged onto which station and current status though.

 

but depends on cost to you.

Lanview is an excellent choice IMO and reports who is logged on, lets you do all the standard things like startup/shutdown/Force shutdown (with much snappier response from the machines than LST).

Also lets you do other handy things like execute programs and batch files.
