Asus Eee PC

Im planning to get an asus eee pc, now what do you guys think of it? I myself like it but am wondering if it would be able to handle me doing some coding such as xhtml, css, php etc?

even with the 1000 series? Thats a pretty good sized keyboard

I have a 701, which I belive is the same size keyboard as the 900 series, I have small thin fingers, and it's too small for even me!

If you can sacrifice battery life (120GB mechanical HDD) then the acer aspire is a worthy rival to the eee:

We've just bought some of the 901 series (atom processor model) and they are lovely. We have 7 for our PE staff to use for registers etc.

Must admit I am getting tempted to get one as Im getting fed up of using my big 17" Laptop for programing things like Phone Systems now so an Eee could be good for that job, couple it with a USB - Serial adaptor and ive got a nice light weight tool. After feeling them at the Northeren Conference i didn't find the keys on the newer larger one too bad, bit small for me for a full day tool but fine for an occasional use one.

I have a HP 2133 Mini note and i prefer it to the Eeee the keys are pretty much full size and i could use it most of the day quite happily if i had to.

i got myself this one Asus EEEPC1000H-BK007X 10IN Intel Atom 1GB 80GB Webcam Windows XP (Preloaded) Black - Ebuyer last week and whacked xp pro on it. also upgraded from 1gb to 2gb ram.

works great so far. boots in about 20/30 seconds, drivers are easy to setup, all in all a good buy, if a little more expensive than the previous versions

 

would definitely recommend it

yeah. though i thought i had a spare 160gb drive to use in its place, then found out the eepc uses sata and i had ide. not to worry, 80gb is fine for now

I have the 701 4GB webcam white model, had it for a while now, hardly used it.

 

It was good for when I went on holiday to Brighton a few weeks ago as I could pick up a wireless network from within the place I waas staying, and I've taken it to the pub a few times where they have free wireless Clouds, but on a day to day basis I wouldn't want to use it.

 

Still, it's a nice little gadget that I like having on my shelf to occasionaly use and get lots of "ooh" and "ahh" comments from kids and other drunks in the pub
