This won't affect anyone on Windows 10 22H2 with ESUs, but if your plan to continue using Windows 10 involves using the LTSC version of 21H2 (EOL next year for non-IoT) or 1809 (EOL 2029), or you have a folder on your server (<2025, as 2022 is 21H2) syncing scanned documents (like we do) then you'll not be getting any more security or bugfix updates for OneDrive.

What and Why:

Microsoft is ending OneDrive sync app updates on devices running Windows 10 version 22H1 and earlier. Beginning in August 2026, those devices will no longer receive OneDrive sync app feature updates, bug fixes, or security updates. This change aligns OneDrive support with the Windows lifecycle policy and helps Microsoft focus ongoing investments on supported operating systems.

• Identify devices running Windows 10 22H1 and earlier.
• Upgrade devices to Windows 11 where possible.
• At minimum, upgrade devices to Windows 10 22H2.
• Communicate the change to end users and help desk teams.
• Inform users that OneDrive on the web remains available.
• Update internal support documentation.
