kevin_lane Posted May 15 Posted May 15 I'm looking at introducing a new domain controller, and to start the process of moving away from 2016, i know there have been a few issues around authentication for computer accounts and devices being bricked by the introduction of this, and before i start the process, i thought i would come on here and check with the mind hive! We already have other servers where I am running Windows Server 2022 and they are ok, but not serving any actual roles i.e DNS, CA, GC, DHCP, etc but i do have a S2D 5 node cluster running windows server 2022 Datacenter. we have been trying to migrate most of our endpoints to 25H2 however we still have a few on 24H2 and 23H2. which we are moving over. our exchange is 2019 and use entra connect which is on the latest version. Thanks
3s-gtech Posted May 15 Posted May 15 Server 2022 didn't seem to be the issue. Couple of my DCs are on 2022 without issue. It's 2025 where you may have problems. 1
Olliedawg Posted May 15 Posted May 15 We have two DC's running on Server 2022, never had an issue with that. 1
GK1999 Posted May 18 Posted May 18 I'm running a mixture of 22' and 25' never had an issue with either. If anything, I've run into more problems on 22' than 25'. If you're still running local AD and you're promoting a DC on server 25', you need to extend the schema in your domain for it to work. I stuck with 22' for my DCs as moving to Intune
