It intrigues me for sure, opposite reason to @DalekSec of course as a very Anti-Apple person ;)

I'm hopeful that, like what we're starting to see with the Neo and things like the MDM there's an actual shift in Apple's policies/ideals, away from anti-consumerism. Will take time, but I'd like to be able to take off my tin-foil hat with an Apple logo on it.

The ideal Apple for me was Wozniak, it's never been Jobs, Ive or Cook so fingers crossed firmly here for a future of change and competition.

Tim Cook's reign has been interesting, as he's not managed to find the next great product category, or diversify Apple's product categories so they're less reliant on the iPhone for their income. They've continued their "not first to market, but polished the experience" position with AirPod, AirTag and Apple Watch but it's all been accessories rather than any major product category.

It'll be interesting what comes next for them, though I'm sure Tim Apple will continue his role as their Trump whisperer. 🤣

Some of the coverage in the news makes that point that Apple has been quite conservative on the innovation front compared to other comparable companies, and that Tim Cook hasn't really ushered in any new product categories for Apple in the way that Jobs brought in iPhone and iPad.

I don't really agree with that. The Apple Watch is bloody everywhere, and smartwatches (yes, I know Apple doesn't call it a smartwatch) would be nothing like as ubiquitous otherwise. There's also tonnes of interesting looking telly that I can't watch because I don't have an Apple TV sub. It's one of the few subs that I'd actually consider having.

As for the new CEO being a "product guy" with history at the company, I think people would be concerned if he or she weren't, tbh.

Not a huge Apple user, but I have a MacBook and the relative lack of enshitification from them is admirable.
